Scott Griffin has lived in Kinmel Bay since he crossed the frontier of Y Foryd Bridge just before the pandemic having lived in Rhyl for twenty years. He has never looked back! He is a highly motivated Engineering manager and leader in LEAN management techniques. With over twenty years hands on experience in a manufacturing environment including automotive and communications, he has worked for businesses in North Wales and the North West. He is passionate about the role business can play supporting communities and champions change though engagement and mentoring. He believes in teamwork and the power of people coming together to make a difference.

Denise Dale lives in Kinmel Bay and is the owner of Baysville Coffee and Grill, a business launched just before the pandemic. Prior to launching Baysville, Denise (or Nisey as she is best known) was a store manager for Wilko in Rhyl for fifteen years. As a manager, she took on many projects, and managed over forty team members. She learned various skills including people management, leadership and problem solving and was involved in setting up the Rhyl BID, which is now running very successfully. She is passionate about the role of independents, and the small business community in TKB to make a difference to the area.

Adam Williams has been Director of Tir Prince Leisure Group for three decades. The Group has been reported as the fastest growing company in North Wales for two years, and in the top ten FastGrowth50 companies in Wales. He owns several businesses in Towyn including Tir Prince Market, the largest market in North Wales and Tir Prince Raceway, his main business in Towyn with over two million visitors a year. His businesses employ over two hundred people through the Towyn sites alone. Adam is passionate about developing Towyn & Kinmel Bay in a way that works for local people and the visitor economy. His family has been involved in tourism in North Wales since 1956.

Bill Darwin chairs Kinmel Bay and Towyn Sports and Recreation Association which leases and manages Y Morfa Leisure Centre. The Association also has the lease for Kinmel Bay Bowling Green. Bill founded Kinmel Bay Football Club in 2002 which presently caters for 160 - 200 players (Girls, Boys, Women, Men, Disabled) and he founded the Adult Youth Club in 2010 which caters for 10-12 members 60 years plus. He chairs Kinmel Bay and Towyn Community Association which has the lease for and manages the football field on St. Asaph Avenue. The Sandy Cove estate roads are also the responsibility of the charity. Bill has been involved in a range of other voluntary groups and associations in the area and has previously been a governor at Ysgol Y Foryd and Ysgol Maes Owen.

Jenny Beswick is mum to a twenty one year old and foster mum to two teenagers. She has lived in Kinmel Bay for twenty years and previously ran a gym business. She is involved in Kinmel Bay Church, volunteers for the monthly Clothes Share, organised by Home-Start Conwy and is currently helping to set up a voluntary group to support health and wellbeing inspired by a cooking and nutrition course hosted at Chester Avenue Community House. She wants to see better use of community assets, more activities for children and young people and greater sharing of information and resources. She loves where she lives and wants to make it a great place to live for her, her family, her neighbours and the community as a whole.

Stanley Barrows has been a Towyn & Kinmel Bay resident for almost forty years. He has volunteered and been chairperson of two local groups, Chester Avenue Community
group organising local events and trips for local residents and also the Green Fingers group looking after the local orchard and making the area more presentable. He has worked at Arriva for thirty three years most of which has been as a Duty Manager and currently works in the Rhyl depot. With this management experience, and his volunteer community based activities in the area, Stan brings leadership, management, and grass roots community development experience and knowledge into the partnership.

Alex Bytheway has lived in Towyn & Kinmel Bay all his life, except whilst completing his degree in Medicinal and Biological Chemistry at the University of York. He returned to his hometown after graduating and currently works as a Science Technician in education. With an interest in photography since he was a teenager, he started doing professional photo shoots, as a nightlife and events photographer whilst at University and maintains a freelance photography career. He also has skills in graphic design, and is keen to use these skills along with his photography on a voluntary basis to help raise the profile of TKB. Alex has views about the way the area can be improved and is keen to use his views and skills to help reach and appeal to young people, who live in the area, and who are visiting.

Georgia Thomas has lived in Towyn and Kinmel Bay all her childhood and most of her adult life. She lived in Liverpool studying for a degree in Business and Politics from the University of Liverpool and completed a Masters in Human Resources at John Moore’s University. She returned to TKB to live and work following her Masters. Her degree in Politics and Business has given her insights into local government, and community politics whilst her Masters in Human Resources has developed her knowledge about people management. She is looking forward to applying her academic knowledge practically through her involvement on the Community Partnership. Having lived in the areas most of her life Georgia has built relationships with many people and peers, knows the area well, and feels confident listening to and discussing ideas and initiatives that would benefit the area.

Bernice McLoughlin has represented Towyn on the Town and Community Council for a number of years. She has many transferable skills of direct relevance to the Community Partnership. As an ex-nurse, she has learned the art of listening; dealing with people in sensitive situations. She believes that listening to the views of other individuals is vital in her role as a community representative. People in community leadership roles must be prepared to advocate for others, representing their views not just their own. She is committed to working with other groups, and organisations in the locality. Bernice is a trustee of Friends of Kinmel Bay Library, Towyn and Kinmel Bay Show, and St Mary’s Church Coffee Club in Towyn. In May 2022, she became the County Borough Councillor for Towyn.

Barry Griffiths has represented Kinmel Bay as a Town and Community Councillor since 2016. He has lived in the area for 40 years, through the 1990s floods as a family with young children. He supports a community website on flood resilience, represents TKBTC on the regional Flood Forum and understands flood risk, and the impact of climate change. He worked in international engineering and ran his own digital technology business; is equally concerned about deprivation, lack of opportunity and the physical environment; is passionate about inclusive community development. An advocate of place planning since 2016 he is delighted to be joining the Community Partnership to develop the place plan and engage local people in turning ideas into action. Barry is Chair of Conwy Beekeepers, Eco Governor at Ysgol Y Foryd and Media Officer for Kinmel Bay FC.

Kay Redhead has lived in Kinmel Bay for 11 years and been on the Town Council for 5 years. She was elected to Conwy Borough Council to represent Kinmel Bay in May 2022. With 5 children aged 9-18 years old, she understands what young people in the area need and want. She is a parent governor at Ysgol Maes Owen, and Emrys Ap Iwan secondary school. She works in adult social care with disabled and vulnerable adults and wants to improve amenities for less abled residents. Kay is active on social media to reach people quickly and efficiently though she understands that not everyone has access (or wants access) to social media. She lives on Chester Avenue estate, gets regular feedback from residents who might not usually engage with ‘authority’ and is proactive in the community at the grass roots.

Nigel Smith has been a Conwy Borough County Councillor since 2012 and was re-elected for another term in May 2022. Nigel has also represented Kinmel Bay as a Town and Community Councillor since 2012. As a Director of a local Motor Factors and retail outlet, Nigel has management and communication skills. He was born over the border in Rhyl and has lived in Kinmel Bay for over 30 years, and has a wealth of local knowledge and represented the area as a Councillor both community and at County for over ten years. He has been Chair of Kinmel Bay Community Centre for the last 5 years, working with many local groups, organisations and Churches. He has served as school governor at Y Foryd and Maes Owen schools and is currently Chair of Kinmel Bay Community Centre Management Committee and a member of the Kinmel Dunes Advisory Group.
